Reviewing the Urban Decay Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette

I bought the Urban Decay Born to Run eyeshadow palette on a whim, after watching a ‘First Impressions’ video by ThatGirlShaeXo, a youtuber that I watch regularly. At first glance, I didn’t think that the palette was that special, but the eye-look that Shae created with the palette really inspired me and I just had to have it!

The Born to Run palette has 21 shades, inspired by that person who’s always on-the-go and needs an eyeshadow palette that can cover every possible eye-look. I bought this palette from Sephora Malaysia for RM225 (it’s £39.50 in the UK). The front cover of the palette is beautiful, and features travel-themed photos all over. The packaging is study yet slim, and has a massive mirror that was so useful when I took it on my long-weekend getaway to Borneo.

Theres a good mix of satin, matte and foiled shades. I think it’s a really good palette for travel, and I think it’s clever that the pops of colour they’ve incorporated are very ‘approachable’ in the sense that they are more jewel-toned rather than rainbow bright. There are all the neutral colours you would need in both warm and cool tones which I think is great too.

Above are swatches of all the shades according to rows. The top row is perfect for neutrals and transition shades, and I really like the shade ‘Still Shot’ in the crease. The blue shades ‘Radio’ and ‘Big Sky’ are some of my favourites and are very pigmented and wearable. I wish the shade ‘Wildheart’ was more pigmented, as it didn’t give that bright fuchsia colour that I wanted.

This is the eye-look I created with the palette. I used the shades ‘Still Shot’, ‘Hell Ride’ and ‘Wildheart’ in the crease, ‘Radio’, ‘Big Sky’ and ‘Stranded’ in the crease and lower lash line.

Overall, I think this palette is definitely a new favourite of mine and will be top of my list when travelling. I recently took it with me on a weekend getaway and created many different looks with it. Urban Decay eyeshadows are always top-notch quality, and this is definitely no exception, as the mattes blended effortlessly, and despite one lack-lustre shade (Wildheart) the foils and satins were pigmented. This is a super easy-to-use and versatile palette that I’d highly recommend!
